Gain or Loss: Business Insurance Broker on Workers Comp Rate Drop

In a bid to attract more investors to Michigan, the state began pulling its workers compensation rates down in 2011. According to the Workers’ Compensation Agency (WCA), as of 2014, the rates have dropped by 22.7 percent over a three-year period, and are still expected to drop further next year, bringing them to 27.7 percent over a four-year period. WCA data also shows that the drop in workers comp rates took off in 2012, when it dropped by 7.4 percent. By this time, House Bill 5002, which WCA director Kevin Elsenheimer credited with the enormous drop, had already taken effect. Under the law, a worker can receive 80 percent of his net weekly salary if his injury caused total disability and wage loss.

The Red Car Bias: Why Michigan Auto Insurance Firms Say It’s Not True

Long associated with flashy sports cars, the color red has come to symbolize speed, recklessness, and general “trouble-making” on the road. In fact, according to a recent survey by insurance information website Insure.com, almost half of car owners do believe red cars get pulled over more often for speeding. The color red draws your attention and the expectation is that auto insurance providers will charge increased rates because of it. After all, safety is a basic consideration in determining insurance rates. Typically, the riskier something is, the higher the insurance premiums will be.

Facts about Michigan Homeowner’s Insurance: What should be Covered

Mold can take a huge toll on your home’s structural integrity, and the cost of putting off addressing the issue can be far worse, especially if you’re planning to sell your house. Some insurance providers may offer mold removal coverage, but, again, the details matter—whether the mold infestation was followed after an event, such as fires, floods, or other incidences. If you want to get an efficient home insurance from Michigan providers, such as Allied Insurance Managers, Inc., be sure to look into the policy and choose the right coverage that suits your needs just right. Getting insurance is often a requirement for many mortgage lenders, so it’s best if you equip yourself with one before securing a loan or negotiating a refinance.

Michigan Auto Insurance Provider Warns Against Texting While Driving

The trusted Michigan car insurance provider noted that more and more car accidents can be attributed to driving while using the phone as statistics show that over 90% of Americans own cell phones. Experts estimated that activities like texting take at least 5 seconds of a driver’s attention from the road, which means that a person using a mobile phone while driving at 55 mph travels the length of a football field without looking at the road. Texting and talking on phones can distract people from their driving and increases the chances of crashes and collisions by 23 times. Approximately 13% of drivers the age of 18 to 20 who have been involved in car wrecks have gone on the record to say that they have been texting or talking on their phones at the time of car accidents as they were somewhat confident that they can safely text while driving. Adults are also no better as 48% of young drivers have often seen their parents drive vehicles while talking on their cell phones.

Why Get Hired and Non-owned Auto Insurance for Michigan Businesses?

Risk is an inherent part of running a business and insurance policies are a hedge against unfortunate circumstances that might hurt your bottom line. If you’re wise, you should already have business auto insurance in Michigan that covers you when company-owned vehicles run into accidents. Is that enough, however? What if your employees use their personal vehicles for official company business, like picking up visiting clients at the airport or doing house-to-house sales? If you or your employee becomes involved in an accident, your business might be on the hook for damages resulting from the mishap. Fortunately, Allied Insurance Managers, Inc. can broker insurance policies that are specifically designed to protect you from this type of liability.

Why Home Insurance in Michigan Can’t Protect Boats from Liabilities

As a boat owner, you know that sailing the open seas is an incomparable feeling. Of course, you also know that private water vehicles are some of the most expensive investments you purchase, with average prices now hovering at around $65,000. If you assume that your home insurance in Michigan will cover the damages and liabilities associated with boat ownership, however, you might end up spending even more than that figure should mishaps happen. Fortunately, Allied Insurance Managers, Inc. can help you find the best rates on dedicated boat insurance policies that will protect both you and your watercraft from untoward incidents. Remember, standard homeowners insurance in Michigan offers only a couple thousand dollars’ worth of coverage when your boat is damaged or stolen—a small pittance compared to the overall price of the vehicle. Furthermore, the damage or theft has to occur at your residence for any money to be paid out at all.

Survey Says: Michigan Auto Insurance Rates are Highest in the Nation

So how can car insurance be so expensive for teenagers? It all boils down to one determining factor: risk. Michigan auto insurance rates often base their quote on the driver’s experience, and since teenagers often have little to no driving experience yet, insurance companies will consider him to be high-risk.

Granted, inexperience is not the only reason that adolescents in Michigan face high insurance premiums; the type of car your kid drives, the area where he lives, and the deductible he chooses to pay all factor into the auto insurance amount. There’s also the fact that rates for car insurance in Michigan are the highest in the nation.

Good Michigan Home Insurance Protects Homes from Mother Nature’s Fury

The home is easily one of the biggest investments a family will ever make. However, there are all kinds of things that can put that investment in great jeopardy. For one, the weather can turn extreme and wreak all kinds of havoc on many homes, as pointed out by an April 13, 2014 MLive.com article.

The onslaught of erratic weather on parts of the Great Lakes State is bound to be a cause of worry for many people. The possibility of severe damage alone is reason enough for homeowners to get comprehensive Michigan home insurance in order to secure their homes against any type of damage, natural or unnatural.

There are different natural catastrophes that can cause damage and/or loss of property in Michigan homes. Earthquakes can topple the house from its very foundation while floods can inundate the interior, often causing irreplaceable property losses. Hail, on the other hand, can put dents in (and even punch holes through), your roof.

Looking for Home Insurance in Michigan? Avoid These Rookie Mistakes

Since you’ve spent a sizeable sum on your house, you’ll want to protect it against fire, theft, hurricanes, and other disasters via home insurance. Unfortunately, many first-time homebuyers are clueless when it comes to adequate home coverage.

In her Forbes.com article, consumer reporter Caroline Meyer talks about four common homeowner’s insurance mistakes, the foremost of which is underinsuring your home.

Meyer also points out that many homeowners assume flood insurance is already included in their policies. After all, insurers often reimburse damage arising from other natural disasters. In reality, though, flood insurance is a separate coverage that you have to pay extra for.

A home is a long-term investment, so be prepared for any unwelcome eventuality that might befall it. You can talk to a trusted broker who will help you find the kind of homeowners insurance in Michigan that perfectly suits your needs.

More People Trust Auto Insurance in Michigan as Insurers Start Stepping Up

Another factor that affects customer satisfaction in auto insurance is the speed of repair to the damaged vehicle. One way to speed up the claims process is to trust a direct repair shop that your insurance provider works with.
